Bio:
- David accepted God’s call to the ministry in 1980 and was licensed in the gospel ministry by Hughes Avenue
Baptist in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was ordained by Denton Baptist Church, Cosby, Tennessee in 1982
- David and his wife, Glenda, attended Carson-Newman College (a Tennessee Baptist School) in Jefferson City,
Tennessee, 1980-1984, both graduating in 1984
- David received a BA degree in Religion and Psychology; was a Teaching Assistant in Religion, Psychology and
Greek; he was also a member of numerous national college honor societies including Mortar Board National College Senior Honor Society( http://www.mortarboard.org/ ), Pi Tau Chi National Religion
Honor Society, and Psi Chi National Psychology Honor Society
- David has ministered to addicts and alcoholics since 1994
- Certified by Georgia Addiction Counselors Association as a Level II counselor (CAC II) and a
Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS)
- He served on staff at Penfield Christian Home, a residential treatment facility for
men
- Currently director of Freedom Counseling Services
- Currently serves on the Georgia Addiction Counselors Association Board of Directors as
Treasurer
- Has served on the GACA Board of Directors as Secretary / Treasuser, Past President (Advisory Role),
President as well as the Chair Person of the Legislative Committee of GACA and was instrumental in organizing the Annual Recovery Awareness Day at the Georgia State
Capital
- Works a 12-step program in his own life
- Married for 44 years to the former Glenda Bates of Lakeview, Georgia who has worked as a social worker for
over 30 years
